US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Reliance’s refinery at Jamnagar, Gujarat, on 21 October 2026, a day after meeting External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Mumbai. In Mumbai on 20 October he said about 99 per cent of the work on the India–US trade deal was complete and an agreement could come within weeks. No deal has been signed yet. He also said US tariffs were ‘not done to punish or harm India’ and that visa curbs address the US immigration system, not India. Jamnagar processes about 1.4 million barrels of crude a day and is the world’s largest single-site refinery.

In the best case, warming peaks at about 1.7–1.8°C, with roughly a 50% chance of returning to 1.5°C by 2100. That requires cuts of 18% by 2030, 45% by 2035 and 69% by 2040 (vs 2025), plus about 320 Gt of CO₂ removal. Current policies point to about 2.8°C. UNEP is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
