12. Mobile Application
The CLAT Gurukul mobile application (“the App”, available on Google Play / iOS App Store under the package com.readyforexam.clat) is governed by this same Privacy Policy. The clauses below supplement the sections above with App-specific data handling.
12.1 Data Collected Through the App
- Authentication: Mobile phone number for OTP verification via WhatsApp (Zoho Forms integration). One-time-password tokens are short-lived (10 min) and never persisted.
- Account profile: Display name, email, exam focus (CLAT / AILET / SLAT / etc.), preparation year, study mode.
- Practice activity: Test attempts, scores, time-per-question, marked-for-review flags, weak sections, streak days, coins earned and spent. Stored locally on device and synchronised to our servers for cross-device continuity.
- Push notification token: An Expo Push token (issued by the Expo Application Services platform) is stored against your account so we can deliver class reminders, mock-test alerts, and daily-paper notifications. You can revoke this in the OS Settings > Notifications screen at any time.
- Downloaded content: When you tap “Save offline” on a daily paper or magazine, the PDF is stored in the App’s private sandbox on your device. We do not transmit downloaded files anywhere; deleting the App removes them.
- Doubt threads + AI conversations: Your messages to mentors (My Doubts) and to Gurukul AI are stored for service delivery and quality review.
- Device telemetry: OS version and App version are logged with each API call for compatibility debugging.
12.2 Additional Third-Party Services Used by the App
- Expo Application Services (EAS) — Push notification delivery, OTA app updates, crash diagnostics. Expo Privacy Policy
- Groq, Inc. / Anthropic, PBC — Large-language-model providers powering Gurukul AI. Messages you send to the AI are processed by these providers for response generation. We use enterprise endpoints; providers do not retain your prompts for training. Groq · Anthropic
- ZeptoMail (Zoho) — Transactional email delivery (mock result notifications, payment receipts, password resets).
12.3 Account & Data Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and personal data at any time. Two paths:
- In-App: Open the App → Profile → Privacy & Data → “Delete My Account”. You will be asked to confirm. Deletion is irreversible and processes within 30 days.
- Web (without the App): Visit clatgurukul.com/delete-my-account/ and submit the form with the registered mobile number. We will verify ownership via OTP and process the deletion within 30 days.
What gets deleted: Your profile, exam focus, practice attempts history, coin ledger, doubt threads, AI conversations, push notification token, and any locally stored downloads. What we retain: Anonymised purchase records (without your identity attached) for 5 years for tax and accounting compliance under Indian law (Section 6 above), and aggregated anonymised analytics that cannot identify you.
12.4 Children’s Use of the App
The App is rated for students aged 13 and above on Google Play. Students under 18 require a parent or guardian’s consent at the point of enrolment for any paid plan. We do not show targeted advertising inside the App regardless of age.
12.5 Device Permissions Requested
- Notifications — to deliver class reminders, daily-paper alerts, mock-test results, and important account updates. Optional; you can deny without losing core functionality.
- Storage (when downloading) — to save PDFs to the App’s private sandbox for offline access. No access to your photos or general files.
- Network — to fetch content and submit your test answers.
