Missed CLAT 2026 Allotment? LSAT India May 26 and Other Backup Routes

Student preparing for LSAT India and law entrance backup exams with books

The CLAT 2026 5th and final allotment list closed on 20 May 2026, with the confirmation-fee window ending 25 May 2026 at 2 PM. If you have decided to exit, or if you simply did not receive an allotment, you still have several live law-admission routes — some with deadlines in the next week, others giving you 18 months to come back stronger. Here is the complete backup map for May 2026, ordered by urgency.

1. LSAT India — Exam on 26 May 2026 (Most Urgent)

LSAT India, administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) — the same body behind the US LSAT — is scheduled for 26 May 2026. Scores are accepted by 50+ private law colleges including Jindal Global Law School, UPES Dehradun, ICFAI Law School, and Alliance Bangalore. There is no negative marking and the test pattern (Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension) overlaps strongly with what CLAT aspirants have already trained for. Visit the official LSAT India site for registration windows still open.

2. MH CET Law — Results & Counselling Live

The MH CET 3-year LLB exam was conducted on 1–2 April 2026; the answer key was released on 1 May 2026 with the objection window closing 3 May. Final results are imminent, and counselling for Maharashtra-domiciled candidates is the most common pathway to ILS Pune, GLC Mumbai, and Symbiosis-affiliated law schools. The 5-year LLB CET round opens later in the year.

3. State LLB CETs Still Open or Imminent

  • TS LAWCET 2026 — conducted 18 May 2026 (CBT). Results expected first week of June.
  • AP LAWCET 2026 — typically in the third week of May / first week of June; check the APSCHE notification.
  • KSLU CET 2026 — Karnataka State Law University; for state-domicile candidates.
  • CG PET LAW & UPCET LLB — secondary backups for Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh aspirants.

4. AILET 2027 — The Single NLU Route

AILET is conducted independently by NLU Delhi for its own admissions. It is the only NLU outside the Consortium-CLAT system and offers a fresh entry point. The next AILET typically occurs in the second week of December 2026; notification is expected in August 2026.

5. Build a Serious CLAT 2027 Attempt

For most CLAT 2026 aspirants who missed top-NLU cutoffs, the single highest-ROI move is a structured drop year aimed at CLAT 2027 (6 December 2026). With 28 weeks of focused preparation, well-coached droppers historically see 30-50 percentile gains. Read our companion piece: CLAT 2027 Notification & 18-Month Prep Roadmap.

Two-Track Strategy: LSAT Now + CLAT 2027 Next

The smartest move for an unallotted CLAT 2026 candidate is rarely “either-or”. A two-track plan looks like this:

  • Week 1 (21–28 May 2026): Register and appear for LSAT India on 26 May.
  • Week 2: Decide whether any LSAT-accepting private college meets your minimum acceptable threshold.
  • Week 3 onwards: Begin CLAT 2027 prep at full intensity, regardless of LSAT outcome. The Phase-1 foundations carry over to any law-entrance exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Is LSAT India considered equivalent to CLAT?

LSAT India is accepted only by private law colleges, not by Consortium NLUs. It is best treated as a backup, not as a CLAT substitute, unless your target was a Jindal-tier private institution.

Q2. Can I take admission in a non-NLU college through MH CET Law and still attempt CLAT 2027?

Yes, but check the college’s policy on first-year withdrawal. Many private colleges deduct a substantial portion of the first-year fee on withdrawal.

Q3. Is it too late to register for LSAT India 26 May?

Late registration windows are often available until 48 hours before the exam date. Visit the official LSAT India portal immediately, or call 7033005444 for help.
