King Harald V of Norway on 18 May 2026 conferred the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit on PM Narendra Modi at the Royal Palace in Oslo. PM Modi is only the second Indian Prime Minister to receive the Grand Cross after Indira Gandhi in 1983 — a 43-year gap.
