Who Is Eligible for CLAT 2027?

CLAT is conducted for both undergraduate (5-year integrated LL.B.) and postgraduate (LL.M.) admissions. For the UG programme:

  • Qualification: Passed (or appearing in 2027) Class 12 / equivalent with the minimum marks prescribed by the Consortium — typically 45% for General/OBC/PwD and 40% for SC/ST candidates.
  • Age limit: There is currently no upper age limit to appear for CLAT UG.
  • Appearing candidates: Students writing their Class 12 board exams in 2027 are eligible to apply, subject to submitting proof of passing at the time of admission.

For CLAT PG (LL.M.), candidates must hold an LL.B. / five-year integrated law degree with the minimum qualifying marks specified in the notification. Always cross-check the exact percentage against the official CLAT 2027 brochure once released.

  1. Register: Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in, click “Register”, and create an account using a valid mobile number and email. Your mobile number becomes your login ID.
  2. Fill personal & academic details: Enter your name exactly as on your board documents, category, and qualifying-exam information.
  3. Choose NLU preferences: Rank the 26 participating NLUs in order of preference — this ordering decides your seat allotment during counselling, so plan it carefully.
  4. Upload documents: Photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), and any other document in the prescribed format and size.
  5. Pay the fee & submit: Complete payment online and download the confirmation page. Keep several printouts for counselling.

CLAT 2027 Exam Pattern at a Glance

CLAT UG is a two-hour, 120-question objective test covering five sections: English Language, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. Each question carries 1 mark with a 0.25 negative marking for wrong answers. The paper is comprehension-based — you read passages and answer applied questions rather than recall facts, which is why structured, passage-first practice matters more than rote learning.
