The court cited evidence linking awareness with reduced abuse, teen pregnancy, and STI rates.

Constitutional, legal and institutional framework
- Article 21 (Right to Life and Personal Liberty): The Supreme Court has progressively read in rights to dignity, privacy, education, and autonomy. The sex education judgment adds age-appropriate awareness as part of the right to information consistent with dignity.
- Free Trade Agreement: An FTA is an international treaty under Article 253 of the Constitution (Parliament’s power to legislate for implementing treaties). The India-NZ FTA is India’s first FTA with a Pacific nation.
- Ramsar Convention: An intergovernmental environmental treaty (2 Feb 1971); India is a party from 1981. The convention uses a wetland classification system. World Wetlands Day = 2 February.
- DRDO and MoD: DRDO is a statutory body under the Ministry of Defence, established in 1958. It operates ~50 laboratories across India.
- Election Commission: Constitutional body under Article 324; superintendence, direction and control of elections to Parliament and State Legislatures.
CLAT angle
- Art. 21 precision: The SC judgment does not create a new fundamental right — it reads sex education as consistent with existing Art. 21 protections. CLAT passages often test whether a right is newly created vs. read into existing provisions.
- FTA vs. MFN: A Free Trade Agreement grants preferential (lower) duties to partner countries. It is different from Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status under WTO. India-NZ: 100% duty-free is a bilateral preference, not a multilateral WTO obligation.
- MMX status wording: MMX has LAUNCHED (not ‘scheduled to launch’). A passage testing this would use the present-perfect or past tense. The 19 October story described it as ‘scheduled’; today it is confirmed launched.
- Jharkhand 81 seats: Not to be confused with Bihar (243 seats) or Chhattisgarh (90 seats). Jharkhand is carved from Bihar, shares cultural overlap but is a separate scheduled-tribe majority state.
